[MOBiDiCTUM] Gamebeast secures $3.7 Million in pre-seed funding

Gamebeast, a tooling platform in the user-generated content (UGC) video game industry unlocking maximum growth potential for Roblox developers, has announced a pre-seed raise of $3.7 million. The raise was led by J2 Ventures, a $250M deep-tech venture capital firm based in Boston, with significant participation from incubating investor a16z SPEEDRUN, The Mini Fund, and Le Zhang, CEO of Spaceport.

Gamebeast offers developers a first-of-its-kind tool designed to unlock maximum revenue potential for games on UGC platforms like Roblox and UEFN (Fortnite). The Roblox ecosystem is vast, with over 300 million monthly active players, 3 million developers, and more than $1 billion paid out to developers in 2023.

Despite its continued growth, developers face challenges, including a lack of LiveOps support, A/B testing capabilities, and effective tools for identifying player pain points and providing real-time analytics.

“Gamebeast is revolutionizing the way developers create and optimize Roblox experiences. Our platform empowers developers to seamlessly detect and address player pain points, ensuring an engaging and rewarding experience.

Beyond gaming, Gamebeast’s robust capabilities are also being explored for defense applications, where real-time updates and automated analysis can enhance training simulations and strategic planning. We’re excited to see how Gamebeast can drive innovation across diverse fields.”

Zander Brumbaugh, Co-founder and CEO of Gamebeast.

Gamebeast is the first no-code platform designed for Roblox developers, but its solutions are also useful in other digital optimization environments, such as defense applications.

The dashboard allows developers to automatically detect player pain points and make live updates seamlessly, optimizing engagement and revenue. The program enables rapid game modifications without server disruptions, featuring an intuitive interface, LiveOps support, management tools, and A/B testing to optimize games for Roblox’s discovery algorithm.

With Gamebeast’s LiveOps offerings, developers can maximize revenue through targeted promotions and campaigns, converting free users and keeping paying users engaged. A/B testing helps determine the best settings for player engagement and monetization. Real-time updates allow players to see changes instantly without server resets, maintaining engagement and avoiding downtime.

Gamebeast’s journey from Roblox to U.S Military

Currently collaborating with over 40 game developers and in late-stage discussions with multiple aspects of the Department of Defense, Gamebeast works with major partners to curate what works best for their studios.

The team comprises experts from MIT, Microsoft, Disney, and Lincoln, with extensive experience in AI, user-generated content, and traditional game development.

Founded by Zander Brumbaugh, a Roblox game designer, an AI researcher at the University of Washington, and best-selling author of the “Coding Roblox Games Made Easy” series, the company has a promising future in games and defense applications.

“Gamebeast’s success among Roblox developers is evident, and its tech and platform hold huge potential for defense. Gamebeast’s gaming expertise is crucial for the Air Force and initiatives to leverage industry experts in creating and analyzing advanced digital environments.

Non-dilutive funding and co-development with the DoD will help Gamebeast scale and provide the military with non-forceful conflict prevention methods.”

J2 General Partner Christine Keung.

The firm declined to detail any specific work they do with the DoD but noted that the customer pull overwhelmed Gamebeast’s pre-financing capacity.

The funding will be used to launch on new platforms, leverage AI-driven analytics, build the largest data insights and reporting platform in the user-generated content space, and enhance its internal insights platform for strategic game and data acquisitions simultaneously with the work it will launch with the U.S. Military.
